Film Portraits in The BAHAMAS

It’s true.. I shot film! And you know what..it has bite!! A couple of portraits of a very  striking travelling companion of mine from a few years ago. I am going through my portfolio boxes in preparation for a move and decided to breathe new life into some of my favourites by digitising them. That’ll be scanning them in simple terms. I do have the negs..and I could print once again..getting fixer stink on my hands for days afterwards..one forgets the smells of a lab..fixer, stop bath..developer..red wine and (in those days) cigarettes. Lovely!!

The day was a ot one as I reacall..and huge contrast in every frame. I can’t recall the film. It might be T-Max 100 or similar. I used to process in HC-110 or Rodinal. You can see the grain in my originals..but very edge sharp.

The stormy weather really played a positive role in the lighting for this portfolio shoot of a family relation with modelling aspirations. Tony has been asked by several agencies to providde some shots so my daughter Kirsty set up the shoot and we took a stroll in my local area armed with a couple of lastolite reflectors and an 85mm lens.

The boy done good.. and I think he does have the ‘model’ look about him! I remember when he was a boy of about 4!! Scary!

We shot around Tooting park and Kirsty and Natasha  provided support with umbrellas and reflector holding duties.. I really enjoyed it despite being just a tad tired form lots of childminding duties (my wife is cycling in Europe for the British heart Foundation)..I like many of the shots.. I always feel great when I get something good and it reaffirms my self belief!!

Dietrich lives on! See Me Photography recreates Marlene Dietrich

This photograph was taken on a cruise ship stage of one of the dancers I knew at the time. Its shot on Tri-X film..(yup.. good old silver halide!!) and printed and toned before scanning some time ago.

I did the shoot after a show one evening as we slid through the tropical waters off Jamaica.. using the stage lights to keep the theatrical ambiance. I just like the image.. which is reason enough to place it here for you to see and judge for yourselves. Portrait and portfolio sessions are a great love of See Me Photography… have a look at the galleries section of the website for recent examples. I’d love a studio like Julia Boggio, who has a very well placed site in Merton Abbey Mills down the road from me. Good businesswoman and slick style. Very media savvy.. she reminds me of photography’s answer to Nigella Lawson (I’m sure I’ve heard that one before but what the heck!!)

I digress.. Julia is a star and I have developed a business mantra she’s be proud of.. BIGGER THAN BOGGIO!! How about that for a business plan Julia?

Portfolio sessions with See Me can take place in studio, at home or on location. We can arrange hair and makeup artists  to assist you if you wish… portraits differ from portfolios in as much as its an hour sitting in one location (you can change outfits etc as you wish). Portfolios cover a morning (or afternoon) and maybe on two different days (indoor and outdoor for instance). Priced individually by quotation the current normal fee for a disc of images, a portfolio book and a days shooting is £900. .. Half days are obviously less..

Kirsty Has A Photoshoot!

Any aspiring model and star needs some pictures right? Its a way of assessing how ‘The Look’ is progressing. Maybe something to send to an Agency? Or some images to put into a first portfolio book..? See Me Photography specialises in creating magic for those first important photo shoots..building confidence and gently coaching the moves needed to create striking poses. Its tremendous fun.. and also hard work! But very very rewarding for both model and photographer. Model portfolios are presented either as Disc portfolios (as a set to hand out with personalised picture covers containing all relevant contact detail) or as books to view in hand. Both can be purchased of course to maximise impact and publicity! We use local areas.. there’s a wealth of places to use in South London all the way into the West End where the back alleys and side streets make for great urban locations!

Portraits -The Teen Years

The latest shoot from this week.. teenagers! They are a challenge only in as much as they want so many pictures!!

This two hour session ended up as over 200 exposures using my ‘studio’ (aka the living room).. tastefully decorated with a pale cream wall..

The beauty of Nikons flash system is that for small shoots like this the wireless heads are so incredibly easy to use and can be set up almost anywhere..

I advertise Portraits.. I worked from a studio in Bromley for a number of years doing families, guys and girls and makeovers.. all really enjoyable as I recall as I love the control over

light a studio offers.

The photographs from this portrait session are already allover Facebook .. I know this for sure as the main model is my eldest daughter Kirsty!
